Setting up a proxy server on a PC with Windows 10

A proxy server is an intermediary between your computer and the Internet. This is an additional privacy measure that allows you to visit websites from any browser while hiding your real IP address. It improves network performance by caching data and reducing the number of requests to remote servers. On corporate networks, it is used to block ads, spam, or restrict employee access to certain resources, such as social networks. Today we are going to show you how to set up a proxy server for Windows 10.

Proxy search

There are two ways to get Mediation Servers. You can find them freely available or buy one, for example, at Proxy-Seller or more at a time. In principle, both of them work, but the quality varies greatly. Free proxies are less reliable as they often crash, freeze and crash. These are public servers that are used by a large number of people, which means that the privacy and security of user data remains at risk.

Paid options undoubtly are more stable and faster than the free ones, they differ in many settings, a high level of security, anonymity and technical support from the provider. Buying means renting a server for a certain period. To use private servers, it is sometimes necessary to authorize an IP address or username and password. Let’s see how to get a free proxy server using the any trusted service as an example:

Go to the any proxy list database you want.

  1. Start the service, open the “Proxy List” tab and get into the Internet database of proxy lists.
  2. Scroll down the page, adjust your search options and click Show.
  3. Select the appropriate item from the list below and then copy the IP address and port.
  4. Using the same resource, we check the performance of the proxy. Go to the Proxy Checking tab.
  5. Scroll down to “Proxy List”, paste the copied details and click “Start Payment”.

If the server is running, we’ll use it in the configuration. Otherwise, you will have to look for another one.
The trusted provider administration immediately warns that it does not own these proxies and is not responsible for their quality. The resource simply collects free proxies from various sites and forums, so even if their work is confirmed, problems are not excluded. For example, access may require a username and password that no one will provide. In this case, you will have to look for another option to work without authorization or use resources with paid proxies.

The so-called “Transparent” are non-anonymous servers that report that they are exactly a proxy and issue the client’s IP address. Anonymous proxy servers do not report the IP address, but nevertheless warn that the work is carried out precisely through the proxy.

Spoofing servers – Tell the web server a bogus IP.

Anonymizers – CGI proxy, are a program similar to a standard search engine, but instead of text values, you need to enter the URL of the required site into the search bar. With the help of anonymizers, you can view a large number of Internet resources, while remaining completely anonymous.

Proxy servers can be divided into open and closed. Any user can access open ones. In order to gain access to a private proxy server, you need to fulfill a number of conditions.

Open proxies can be anonymous ones that hide your real IP addresses and allow you to browse the network anonymously. Regular proxy servers are not designed to maintain anonymity and provide all user credentials in full.
